How to use Telegram without your real phone number

Telegram registers every account against a phone number and sends a one-time SMS code to confirm it. If you would rather not tie the account to your personal number, you can register with a temporary number instead and read the code online.

Steps

• Start the Telegram signup and choose to receive the code by SMS.
• Rent a private, one-time Telegram number in a country with a strong success rate.
• Enter it in Telegram and read the incoming code on the page.

Keep in mind that whoever controls the number controls password-free access to that account, so a private, used-once number matters: it is reserved for you alone, unlike a shared public line.
