Rent a phone number for days, not minutes
A one-time number gives you a single code. A rented number stays yours for the period you choose and shows every SMS it receives, so you can verify again when an app asks.
How renting a number works
Pick the service and country, then choose a period. You see the live price before you pay.
Use the number on that service. Every SMS it receives appears in your inbox within your account.
When the period ends, the number is no longer yours. Choose a longer period up front if you may need it again.
One-time code or rented number
| One-time code | Rented number | |
|---|---|---|
| How long you have it | Until the code arrives | 1 day, 3 days, 1 week or 2 weeks |
| Messages you can read | One verification code | Every SMS during the period |
| Best for | A single sign-up | Re-verification, 2FA, account recovery |
| If nothing arrives | Credit refunded | Cancel from minute 2 to minute 20 for a full refund |
| After it ends | Number released | Number released, messages kept for 30 days |
Prices depend on service, country and period, and are shown live before you pay.
What renting a number means
Renting gives you one virtual number for one service, for a fixed period. During that period the number is reserved for you, and you read everything sent to it on TempCode.
Think of it as a long term virtual number in days, not years. It suits accounts that ask for a code more than once, without giving out your personal number.
Rental periods
The number is yours for the period you choose. If you may need it again, pick a longer period up front.
- 1 day: a sign-up that may ask for a second code.
- 3 days: a short trip or a few days of logins.
- 1 week: a new account that re-verifies in its first days.
- 2 weeks: the longest period, for when you may need the number again.
When renting is the right choice
If you need just one code, a one-time number costs less. If you will rely on an account for years, use a number you own.
- Re-verification: apps that ask for a new code a few days after sign-up.
- Two-factor login: an account that sends a code at each login while you are using it.
- Account recovery: a reset code you expect within the rental period.
Refund rule
If no SMS arrives in the first 20 minutes, you can cancel and get a full refund. Cancelling opens 2 minutes after the rental starts. After 20 minutes there is no refund, even if no SMS has arrived. Once an SMS has arrived, the rental cannot be refunded.
Honest limits
Services may block virtual numbers. No provider can promise that an app will accept a given number, so check the service before you choose a long period.
A rented number is not yours forever. When the period ends it can go to someone else, and you cannot receive codes on it any more, so do not leave an important account tied to it.
SMS is not private by design. A message passes through carriers and number suppliers before it reaches you, and it can be seen along that chain. Do not use a rented number for banking or anything sensitive; banking services are not offered for rental.
Messages stay in your account for 30 days after the rental ends, then they are deleted.
Questions about renting a number
How much does it cost to rent a phone number?
It depends on the service, the country and the period. You see the live price in credits and dollars before you pay, along with the approximate price per day.
How long can I rent a number?
You can choose 1 day, 3 days, 1 week or 2 weeks. The number is yours for that period, so if you may need it again, pick a longer period up front.
Can I get a refund?
If no SMS arrives in the first 20 minutes, you can cancel and get a full refund. Cancelling opens 2 minutes after the start. After 20 minutes there is no refund, even if no SMS has arrived.
Can I use one rented number for several apps?
A rental is for the one service you pick. If you need another service, rent or buy a separate number for it.
Is a rented number a good long term virtual number?
For days or weeks, yes. It is not a permanent number: when the period ends it can go to someone else, so keep accounts you rely on tied to a number you own.
Can I use a rented number for my bank?
No. Banking services are not offered, and SMS can be seen in the supply chain, so a rented number is not suitable for anything sensitive.
What happens to my messages when the rental ends?
They stay readable in your account for 30 days after the end, then they are deleted.
